The Campaign
In October 2023, Destination Toronto became the first Canadian brand to utilize the newly launched TikTok Out of Phone solution, a feature that amplifies user-generated content (UGC) on digital screens worldwide. This innovative campaign brought the vibrancy and diversity of Toronto to life in Times Square, NYC, as part of the ongoing "You Gotta See What We See" campaign. The strategy featured videos by Toronto creators, like Blackpowerbarbie, whose 2D animations transformed cityscapes into a vibrant digital canvas, playing over 2,500 times in Times Square. By integrating the TikTok Out of Phone program, the campaign encouraged user-generated content, achieving over 4 million website visits and 90 million video views, significantly boosting Toronto's presence and unique appeal in the U.S. market.
